The global chip shortages led to severe disruptions in many end-customer industries, such as automotive and medical equipment. To anticipate and ideally alleviate future chip shortages, Europe is proposing a highly granular government supply chain monitoring in the upcoming EU Chips Act. Similar plans are also discussed within the EU-US Trade and Technology Council.
